Orebić is located at southwest of peninsula Peljesac opposite town Korcula, which are separated via Peljesac canal. Between Korcula and Orebić is regular ferry transportation. The chief occupations are agriculture; grow of fruit, fishing and tourism. Orebić is famous tourist centre with lot of hotels, accommodations and places for sport and recreation.
The most beautiful pebbly beaches are in bay Trstenica. In surrounding are some places for camping. Navy museum is located in building of old town hall. Name of the town was till 16th century Trtenica. Orebić was named after family which build there castle. Town was centre of ocean shipping and business mans, lot of robust sailors was from Orebić. Peljeska fleet of sea was established in year 1865 and had 33 ocean ships. This epoch reminds the houses of captains. Gothic – Renaissance monastery with a lot of valuable artistically works from 15th century is located about two kilometers on west from town. Above monastery, at mountain of St. Ilja is baroque (originally Gothic) church, which was for century’s shrine to mariners. Lot of presents and artistically works from long distant are placed there.
